Realms missing

I purchased a realm earlier today and I played on it for some time, but I after a few hours I came back and it is missing.  I have tried restarting the program, restarting as administrator, restarting my pc, and nothing is working.  Why is the realm just missing?  This is extremely frustrating, considering this is just a multiplayer feature.  Why am I paying extra for multiplayer that doesnt work?
