Chunks voided at a certain place

WORLD block suddenly collapsed into void but just at a certain place, and for some reason other block was not effected, we lost a lot of our creation that took a lot of hardwork. i wish to know why is this happening. we dont know how did it happened, just suddenly we turn our back for a few minutes and it happened.
