Stuck in a fake survival mode

So I logged into my survival world after about a month off. I login and I am in creative, even though it says I'm in survival. Cheats are off, and I can't get back to real survival.  The only way I could think of fixing this is changing it to creative, but I'd have to turn cheats on, and switch back to survival.
