Switch won't stay logged into microsoft account

I bought a Realms subscription for myself and Nintendo Online for all the kids.

I'm trying to set them up one at a time.
My first kid's minecraft will not stay logged into his children's microsoft account, BigArchie14. The parent account is PGS H8Bit.
We've been able to log him in a few times, but when we put the system to sleep at any time and it has to reload the main menu, we have to go and validate it on a computer or phone browser. I don't assume that this is intended. If this is unfixable, I will not be renewing the realms subscription after the free month. (It's kind of a major pain, especially with 3 kids and none of them having a laptop or phone but all of them having a switch and wanting to play together)
