Villagers will not eat/take food/breed

Ive built two villages with pressure plates and droppers with food(bread, carrots, potatoes, seeds etc)so they can eat but they wont take food or throw food during village meetings. They also will not breed after trying to raise happiness levels by trading. Farmer villagers also do not harvest crops or hand out food.
