Multi-player on same LAN does not work

Attempting to do multi-player between two switch consoles on the same wireless is THE most annoying and fruitless pursuit ever. Im tire of my six year old staring at me wondering when ill get it to work.  Home users do not have enterprise hardware to set up a DMZ range and Minecraft IS THE ONLY GAME UNABLE TO DO THIS SIMPLE TASK.
