You can't die in the Void

When I fall down after breaking that last Bedrock layer, I was surprised to see that the Void didn't kill me, it just made me land on an invisible platform. Not only that, but other mobs do die in the Void, and I can't die, because the game refused to do so. :\ FIX IT, TOM!!!!
