Stuck on red screen on PS4

Hi, I am unsure what version of Minecraft my son uses but for the past week when attempting to load on the PS4 it doesn't load and remains on the Mojang Studios Red screen.

we have noticed that a few people on Twitter are having a similar issue.

please can you assist?
