Death while not being in the app., and missing chunks

Issue One: Death while not being in the application. I made a survival world, after my old one got corrupted. Earlier today, I want to play for a bit, then I had to go, and forgot to close the application. After I got back from what I was doing, I noticed that the village house I last left in was destroyed, and all my valuable items were gone. This was the second time, the first time I was also in a village. I checked around and then noticed that my items despawned. I thought rejoining might do something, but when I did, huge amounts of chunks were missing.
