Won't sign in to Microsoft account

ever since the last update a week ago, minecraft has not signed in automatically to my Microsoft account. It just comes up with a message to sign in to a new account, which means I haven't been able to play with friends. I have seen other reports here but some say resolved. Is a fix imminent?
