Breaking blocks in survival instantly

Steps to reproduce
-place down obsidian block in creative mode.
-place down obsidian block.
-switch to survival.
-using NO tools, finger hold on block for about a minute or so.
The block WILL break! It's sorta like breaking smooth stone by hand.
