Minecraft crashes when signed in to Microsoft Account

Minecraft crashes at startup if I am signed in to my Microsoft Account. 

If I disable WiFi or sign out first from the "Xbox Console Companion", I can start the game but cannot access any of my purchases. If I sign in from within the game, it crashes. 

I've checked for updated drivers, rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and it still crashes.
