Can't make certain fireworks

I will a firework star that is star-shaped, but in the crafting table it only makes "small ball" instead of "star-shaped" fireworks.

 

UPDATE: This happens for all fireworks. It doesn't matter what type of firework star shape you have, the only crafting options are "small ball."
