Minecraft on Nintendo Switch Crashing After 1.16.20

Ever since Minecraft on Nintendo Switch has updated to version 1.16.20, I have been experiencing very frequent and infuriating freezes. When the game freezes, I have two options:

 

1. Close the software, with the end result being my console crashing and me being forced to restart it
2. Remove the cartridge while the game is still on

Neither of which are good for the console or the game.

 

Also, if I go to the home menu and then back to the game even for a second, the whole console freezes!

 

This absolutely needs to be fixed as soon as possible
