Skins won't revert from Steve to our choice of skins while on multiplayer

My sister and I like to play on each other's worlds a lot. We use our WiFi to connect to our worlds. However, recently we've had a weird problem/glitch. No matter if I'm on her world or if she's on my world, our skins revert to defult Steve and we can't change it back.
