Nintedo Switch microsoft sign in problems

ever since the new update came around i have been having sign in issues, whenever i go through the entire process of signing into my Microsoft account. i go through all the steps and it doesn't sign me in the text "signing into microsoft account" appears in the bottom left corner but it never leaves it just keeps on showing that exact text, i even waited a full hour and still nothing changes, just the same "signing into microsoft account" text. i have been using this account for months and i don't know why it fails to sign me in now.
