Game Crashes when entering the end portal

So entering the end portal from the overworld crashes my game. I did this in creative and I am able to walk on top of the portal block itself for almost a second and then it crashes. I have not tried it in survival in case it corrupts my world. I tried this four times and it did it every time. Also, it did it to me while going through a nether portal once.
