Add friend button not doing anything

whenever i try to add a friend (or readd one since in the latest update all my cross platform friends were removed) by using the Add friend button after searching for a username in Find Cross-Platform Friends, it just does nothing. It's really annoying because no matter how hard i try it wont work.
