Unable to sign in microsoft account

I've tried to sign in my microsoft account, both from the home screen and from settings>profile, but I can't. And, seeing as the app is useless without the sign in, could you either help me or can I get a refund? The progress stays at these stages (shown in the screenshots I've taken) and doesn't open any tabs, and either closes the app or just goes back to home screen.
