So I can't connect to my friends game or get a invite from him, I can send home one but he can't get onto my world

So me n my friend are trying to play minecraft together but when I try to have him connect to my world it won't work at all and when he tries to send me a invite he doesn't have it on his screen, he doesn't have the button to send a invite as the picture has displayed
