The game has just started to use a lot of RAM, causing stuttering and lag on doing tasks

This only started happening today - I have no trigger action for it, but I loaded in an I noticed that memory usage quickly went to 9476MB. 

I will restart the pc to see if it fixes it, but I thought that you might want to know
