Nether portals not linking fully/properly

When going from the nether to the overworld portals work fine and you spawn in the correct place, but when traveling from the overworld to the Nether you don’t spawn when the portal is, you spawn exactly where the portal should be in the nether although the portal only being one or two blocks away from the exact corresponding coordinates.
