Dying in the nether after game crashes

I was mining in the nether with a fire resistance potion active (that's important for later) then all of a sudden my game crashes which is quite frequent with the new update but I reopened my world and I had died to what sounded like lava on the death screen and all my stuff is gone including netherite tools which are fire resistant and where I died isn't mined out like it was before. Im not sure how replicable this bug is just hoping someone without a backup save won't have this happen to them
