Selecting MINECON 2016 skin causes character to fail to load

I selected a MINECON 2016 skin on the iOS Bedrock edition, as I own it there. It was the Steve Minecon 2011 Cape skin, and it states that the skin can roam and is usable everywhere. I saved this character to slot 1. On the Nintendo Switch Bedrock edition, however, I somehow don't own the skin pack there, and slot 1 always fails to load when using one of these skins.
