Cant put lead on Pets

i was moving alot of my pets at once (all Tamed Wolves) with leads in my world, once attaching them to a fence post i left it for a while to go do various other things, i come back and remove the leads and they still seemed to show up underneath a number of the wolves, after standing them up they will follow me but wont teleport and i can’t re-attach the leads to them,
