Stuck in creative mode in a survival world

My account is stuck in creative mode since the new Nether update. I have played in my realm on survival mode, but my player is still in creative. I have joined my friend's realm that is set to survival mode, and my player is still in creative. My friend, however, is stuck in survival mode no matter the realm setting.
