Netherite

I had two pieces of netherite gear a chest plate and a pickaxe. I fell into lava and burned while I had my chest plate on and it never floated to the top. I was then mining with my netherite pickaxe and I was using a bed and it had exploded and killed me but I couldnt find my pickaxe.
