Problem with connecting to local server

my friend and i were planning to play on a local server but we encountered a problem. I joined his server, the ground was missing. I could only see the sky. I also couldnt move. We tried resetting our devices but that didnt help. My friend tried joining my server and he also experienced this. Please fix
