When turning off Nintendo switch with minecraft installed, my router stops connecting to the internet

I recently reinstalled Minecraft on my Nintendo switch and I noticed that whenever I put the console in sleep mode, my router wouldn't connect to the internet. Every single device in the house would connect to the router, but not to the internet. On top of all this, if I try to use any other software that has online multiplayer, the connection would be so slow that it was unplayable. Please help
