Paintings break when chunks are unloaded

I have decorated a room of my build with a few 1x1 paintings, facing north and south. The room is dark but has toggle-able lights. When I would leave the chunks and reload them as I got closer, the 1x1 paintings facing north and south had broken, but other various paintings facing east and west remained. I thought the issue was the darkness, but the 1x1s seemed to randomly break whether in light or dark (they broke more times than they didn't). Ever since the update I have had small chunk loading issues, but it seems to effect the paintings and it is slightly annoying having to replace the paintings each time.
