Unable to get friends into my world, player limit stuck at 5 and won't increase with commands.

Before the update released I was able to have 8 or more players in any of my given world depending on whether I had cheats on or not. However ever sense the update I am unable to get more then 5 people in any given world even when I use the command to increase the amount of players allowed to join.
