Dying in nether portal because of zombie piglins, when I go to back to look all of my stuff is gone.

I have made a gold farm where I kill the zombie piglins in the over world and they become aggravated at me and sometimes I forget to let them get un-aggravated at me before going to the the nether. When I go to the nether, I find that they kill me too quickly to even let me walk out of the portal. When I go back looking for my stuff it is all gone. This has happened multiple times and it is kind of frustrating losing all of the progress you have made.  i even went to the place where my portal should have been on the over world and my stuff wasn't there either
