Skins when I join worlds are switched with my friends+ chat does not work

So basically everytime I join worlds with my friends, our skins will switch. So one of my friends end up having my skin while I have theirs.
About the chat, no one is able to see my messages except for me. I can't see anyones message as well which is odd.
