Running up long staircase moves you very fast and drains food rapidly

When running up a really long staircase, my speed goes very fast like I am being pulled to yhe staircase and the food meter drains quickly once I reach a high speed. At a high speed, the food meter can drain in seconds. Additionally it seems that I am hitting the ground multiple times as I ascend.

Essentially it is just a straight staircase from bedrock to sea level.

Going down the stairs is fine.
