Minecraft failed to sign in to Microsoft Account

Minecraft has repeatedly failed to log in, the error "We tried to sign you in to your Microsoft Account, but something went wrong" the Minecraft store says I have made purchases when I am clearly signed out. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even separate devices. I am able to sign into my Microsoft account on the website. What is causing this? 

Edit: I have installed 1.16, nothing has changed.
