tnt will not blow up

1.I made a tnt thingy and hit it with fint and steel and the tnt did nonething.
2.when i blow the tnt up under ground it blow up,but not on dirt or sand.
I think mojnd should fix this because if not it's no fun play minecraft pocket editon.
