My friend is stuck in beta 1.16.0.59 and cant update to 0.60

Basically my friend who im trying to play with on our beta survival world is stuck on beta 1.16.0.59 and for some reason isn't getting updated to 0.60. The problem is that I have got the new beta update which means now he cannot join me anymore
