stack of diamonds completely disappeared after i thought they would have dropped

my friend was messing around and took a stack of diamonds out of my chest (in survival) and when i killed him to get them back nothing dropped and they completely disappeared, so a stack of diamonds and my time were wasted. beta 1.16.0.60 is very messed up and buggy, im hoping you could fix all of this.
