Cannot Enter My Friend's Village

Whenever I try to enter my friend's village, everything on my screen disappears, like the hotbar, hunger bar, health bar, stuff I'm holding, all mobs and my friend himself....... I see only their shadows. I cannot see my save & quit option also. It's really difficult for me to play.
