When placing items continiously, a picked up item can stop the placing

Steps to Reproduce:

1. fill an area with farmland (a big one)
2. throw carrots on top of the farmland 
3. fill you inventory with something else except one hotbar slot
4. set your gamemode on survival
5. plant the carrots you are picking up in the farmland by not letting the using-placing button 

Observed Results:
some blocks will get skiped and not be filled with a carrot when you pick up a new one.

Expected Results:
all the farmlands should have carrots and no "bald" spots should appear when you pick an item up.
