Duplicated itens and XP after die.

I was in a ravine when a skeleton killed me. When I died, there were no options to be reborn or return to the main menu, "Generating world" appeared while my screen was red. Soon, I decided to close the minecraft tab and after a while return to minecraft. When I returned to the world, my XP and my items were on the floor and I had not died, however, the same items that were on the floor were in my inventory. Therefore, my items simply doubled and I, who was only with 6 diamonds I had obtained, found myself with 12 diamonds, in addition to the other items that were in my inventory. I would like to make it clear that I did not do this intentionally, and I am wondering how I should act on the items, but with reporting here. I hope you can fix this problem easily.
