Slimes won't spawn in slime chunks

Pre-req.:
Check the chunkbase for slime chunks
Dig the required area
Lit it

Expected:
Every now or then, when a player is nearby a Slime spawns

Current:
Slimes are nowhere to be seen, if we extinguish the lights, other mobs DO spawn.
