Can't move right

When I press right on the joystick, I should move right. When I do press right I do not turn right, spin right, or move right. If I tap the stick right several times in a row, I begin to slightly turn right( about one degree per tap). I have tried going through the controller menu and adjusting all of the options to no avail.
