When player 2 leaves the game he/she will use their items

This was in the game for a long time please tell me why player 2 will lose their stuff/items,this is very hard because when I'm playing with my little brother I sometimes disconnect randomly (don't worry it's rare) so then when I relog I lose
My stuff,once I had all of the diamonds and I lost it
