“Holes” appearing in worlds

I’ve opened two worlds now one new and one that already existed and large blank spots appeared making all the blocks in the affected area see-through. They were still breakable and I was able to walk over them up they trapped mobs and made them shake but they wouldn’t move or take damage. After closing and reopening the blocks did reappear however.
