Game crushes when I try to enter the nether

I created a zombie pigman farm from a nether portal in the overworld. Some zombies would jump out of the water and enter the nether. Now everytime I try to enter the nether my game crushes.
In addition one of the dispensers I was using to break the portal misfires and causes one empty bucket to go through the portal.
