Won’t connect to friends when using wifi

I can’t join or invite friends to my world when using wifi. It works fine with my mobile data but when I switch to wifi, the game doesn’t seem like it wants to load. It will take a lot longer to generate the world and I won’t join my friends world after accepting invites. My wifi works fine with all other apps
