Slime Blocks dont launch properly

As you can see in the video, slime blocks dont launch when surrounded by glazed terracotta,  and when nothing surrounds them, they push you forward in the wrong direction, not just straight up

 

The second contraption has no secret wiring, just simple lever to redstone to piston
