Villagers drop their items when killed

1. Spawn a villager
2. Give it food
3. Kill the villager

Observed Results:
Villager drops its food when killed.

Expected Results:
Villagers should not drop any of their items when killed.

Original Description:
I know that villagers aren't supposed to drop anything but experience, but I swear that when I killed a fisherman, he dropped 2 potatoes and 1 carrot. I don't know if this has to do with something like them dropping their inventories or something, but I did see him drop potatoes and carrots.
