Wither does not drop XP

I killed the Wither solo and it did not drop any XP. It dropped the star but no XP. A few weeks ago 2 friends and I killed the ender dragon and myself and my friend on ps4 did not see any xp drop but our friend playing on PC did and was able to pick it up. Relogging did not fix the issue
